1860′s – Ruby Ambrotype – Possible Post-Mortem. 1/4 plate with Thermoplastic Union Constitution Case. Perplexing and Unique pose. Nothing about this Civil War photograph is’normal’ – hands and arms are positioned strangely, eyes of both men look vacant and unfocused, and when the mat is removed… The soldier on the right has his fly open. Are they both deceased? In addition, the man on the left has an eerie resemblance to’Bloody Bill’ Anderson (see last pic for comparison). Very large 1/4 plate photo with original non-pareil mat and fancy preserver. It is displayed in a non-original Union thermoplastic Constitution case. The case has weak hinges and features the Constitution on one side only. It’s original half-case will NOT be included – it is very rough with a large section missing, and is shown here for documentation only. The image itself has some areas of damage, primarily in the background;however, there is a spot of emulsion loss under the nose of the man on the left. Please check scans carefully and ask questions. United States only – no international. Note – I consider all reasonable offers.
