From a doctor’s estate. This doctor was originally from Reading, PA. I was told that the doctor told his trustee at the bank that these items all originated from the same Civil War family. It certainly appears to be the case. Flores was born August 9, 1832 in Dillingersville, PA and died February 24, 1908 in the same area. He enlisted in the 176th Pennsylvania Volunteer Militia in October of 1862 and was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant of Company K on December 6, 1862. He was honorably discharged August 18, 1863. After his service, he worked for the Internal Revenue Service and also spent much time studying and writing about local history. He had an active roll in the formation of the Lehigh County Historical Society. Civil War Union Foot Officer M1850 sword w/ scabbard. Sword is marked “Iron Proof” on the spine. Most likely a German-made import. Scabbard is also stamped “88″ to match the stamp on sword. Sword is in good condition and very tight. Blade etching and overall condition is exceptional. Scabbard has some surface wear and a few dents in bottom metal but is very solid. Original nicely framed lithograph Honorable Discharge memento Phillip W. Dated 1883 at bottom right. Measures 35″ x 29″. Not sure if lid is original to case. Framed photo identical to daguerreotype. Frame measures 11 1/2″ x 13 1/2″. Original marriage certificate. Bride is Emma Flores. Certificate is dated 1898. I would presume this is Phillip W. Flores’ daughter or granddaughter’s marriage certificate. Note that Emma Flores was from Dillingersville, PA. This was where Phillip Flores was born and died. Check out my store. The item “Civil War M1850 Union Foot Officer Sword Grouping Discharge Papers Iron Proof” is in sale since Monday, May 08, 2017.
