A handsome original Civil War CDV photo of a young Iowa officer wearing the distinctive 15th Army Corp badge showing the cartridge box emblem, and shoulder rank straps with captain’s bars. The reverse is pencil inscribed Capt. Phillips The photo came with a group of CDV photos of men of the 31st Iowa Volunteer Infantry on muster out at Louisville in 1865 and the reverse bears the imprint of by Campbell & Ecker, Louisville, Kentucky. Comes w service info- Adelbert Phillips from Andrew, Ia (Jackson County) served with I Company, 31st Iowa, 1862-65 rising from the rank of sergeant, and was wounded at Atlanta in 1864.
