Rare AFRICAN AMERICAN AMBROTYPE 1/6th TINTED CHEEKS c1850s Civil War Era Photo

This is a very nice Ambrotype of a young African American gentleman in a suit. He has tinted cheeks and is sitting by a cloth covered table. He is wearing a wedding ring. This is a 1/6th case size ambrotype, 2 11/16″ x 3 3/16″ plate with gilt metal surround and glass covering. Original seal was broken? As the top glass covering came out easily with my small tool. I carefully lifted the gilt surround to take the one photo. There is a piece of old fabric behind the ambrotype. The case hinge is broken and there is a piece of old black fabric tape on one edge. One brass clasp is missing. The item “Rare AFRICAN AMERICAN AMBROTYPE 1/6th TINTED CHEEKS c1850s Civil War Era Photo” is in sale since Tuesday, November 07, 2017.
